Microsoft had placed very important technologies in the Xbox Series X / S consoles. One of them was called Auto HDR. In fact, as you can guess from its name, Auto HDR technology provided HDR support to video games that are SDR, that is, video games that do not support HDR, with the help of artificial intelligence. In this way, gamers using HDR-supported televisions or monitors could enjoy the best color depth in older games. Now, Microsoft and Xbox have announced that they will bring the same technology to Windows 10 . Thus, many older games on the PC side will be able to display HDR type images instead of SDR.
Auto HDR technology has already been rolled out to players on the PC side at beta level. In order to take advantage of this technology, you must first have a HDR supported and certified display. After that, you need to register for the Windows Insider Program (Dev Channel) . If your registration is accepted, you can switch to a version of 21337 or higher and start using Auto HDR technology in your own games. Under normal circumstances, Auto HDR will be activated automatically in supported games. If you specifically want to turn this technology off or on again, you should take a look at the settings tab called Windows HD Color.
On the Windows HD Color page, you will see two different settings named Use HDR and Auto HDR . Both of these settings must be active. If you do not know what you are doing, we recommend that you do not interact with the remaining settings. After that, the things you need to do are pretty easy. If you want to manually activate this technology, you must set Use HDR and Auto HDR to On. In order to be closed, you have to Off. Then you can start enjoying Auto HDR technology by entering one of the thousands of supported games. Unfortunately, we do not have a list of supported games at the moment, sir.
